Hello! My name is Gabrielle Elizabeth McLoughlin — GEM!

When I was younger, my parents made it their mission to introduce me to great music.

Instead of doing homework, I jammed to any CD I could get my hands on. That’s how I discovered Michael Jackson.

I became completely enthralled by him, and I needed to consume all his work. When I came across the “Thriller" music video, it completely changed my life.

Thirteen minutes of pure genius. I loved every second.

The beat of the music, the detail of the makeup, the camera angles, the editing – all of it. At that moment, I knew I wanted to make my own art for the rest of my life.

When developing GEM, I wanted to make art that both enchanted people and drew them in. Makeup can be a great form of escape. To become something or someone you are not, or to the very person you are meant to be.

The confidence that exudes from a client the moment they get their makeup done is the reason I keep coming back. They feel empowered, happy, and unstoppable – the exact way I felt when I watched “Thriller” for the first time.

Photography and film came to me a bit later, but I love them just the same.

I’m a movie person – I always have been. I’m a sucker for a great story, but I’m in love with cinematography. Being able to shift the mood with great lighting and a killer camera angle immediately turned me on to the art of photography and cinematography.

I knew I had to incorporate that into my art.

Makeup, photography, and film have always been my passion, but adding live music in the mix while creating is a dream come true.

I’ve always dreamt of working with musical artists and making magic. This dream started with music, after all. To create art at the intersection of makeup, music, and film, seems like a life that was written in the stars.

It’s all happening.

Welcome to my world. This is GEM.
